Vetoa kuolemaantuomitun puolesta!

Amnestyn pikavetoomuslistalle tulee välillä pikaisia pyyntöjä vedota jonkun kuolemaantuomitun puolesta, joka on tarkoitus teloittaa lähipäivinä. Tässä on yksi sellainen. Jos yhtään vastustatte kuolemaantuomiota, printatkaa tämä vetoomus ja lähettäkää se mitä pikimmin!

Dear Ms Owens

I would like to express my deep concern for the situation of Gregory Wright (prisoner number #999253) who is to be executed on 30 October. I see death penalty as a violation of human rights, as an inhuman and cruel punishment.

At first I would like to express my sympathy for the family and friends of Donna Vick. I am by no means seeking to condone the manner of her death or to downplay the suffering caused.

Although I would like to note that there have been raised doubts about Gregory Wright's participation in this crime he's sentenced. He was tried as the primary actor in the murder of Donna Vick but John Adams, who has also been sentenced to this murder, has several times noted that Wright is innocent. There is no real evidence supporting the guiltyness of Gregory Wright. For example, the only physical evidence directly linking Wright to the victim’s body or the room in which the murder occurred is a partial fingerprint. Several experts, including two detectives and two forensic scientists, have failed to indentify the print as Wright's.

I am therefore calling for Gregory Wright's death sentence to be commuted or at a minimum he to be granted a 180-day reprieve so that he can pursue his claims of innocence in the courts.
